After almost 2 years of blogging, I finally decided to pick up Natasha Courtenay Smith’s ‘The Million Dollar Blog’ novel in W.H.Smiths with a mental note of starting the year off the right way. Although the book was released in 2016 and the blogging community has changed drastically since then, it still includes some timeless information that continues to be relevant now.
It features interviews with some of the most successful bloggers in the world where they talk about their careers and how it all got started. It’s influential for aspiring bloggers and bloggers who find it hard not to procrastinate at times. I personally feel as though it’s taught me a few tips and tricks about the blogging world along the way and I’ve been at it since I was around 13, so that’s definitely saying something.
The main focus of the book is to teach bloggers how to be successful no matter what niche they’re blogging under. It includes stories from mummy bloggers, fitness bloggers, travel blogger, people who blog to promote their business and many more. It shows the impact blogging has and the careers it’s made and if you’re not a blogger already it will no doubt make you want to be.
There’s reasons why you should blog, what blogging even is, discovering your personal brand and how you can gain money from it, it informs you of the best ways to start a blog, how to create content and get traffic and how to get through the creative block. Overall it covers everything. It’s written in the form of a blog post also, so very enjoyable to read. I got through it pretty quickly as I wanted to include all the information I learnt into all my upcoming blog posts in 2020.
Did it teach me anything? Well since reading it I’ve decided to post a lot more content (every weekday) and post it in the same time every night (8pm UK time) for my readers to know when new content is out and keep them coming back around the same time each night. I’ve also updated my template, started to get in touch with a lot more brands and scheduled when I’m going to be taking my photos/writing posts to make it all planned out and not too overwhelming for myself.
I would definitely recommend this book to any blogger in general, as I said I came in this game around 13, I’m 17 now and there’s still so much to learn. Thank you for reading, let me know in the comments your favourite blogging tip and help a few other readers out?

Love this – I have also been re-thinking things regarding blogging. One very positive aspect of a new year/decade is the encouragement it sparks with regard to organisation and striving to do better. May have to pick up this book – thanks for the heads up!

It is definitely a useful book for bloggers! I found it most helpful reading about how to overcome the writers block and always think of new content to post. It talks about ways you can make money out of it too, which if you’re wanting to blog full time can be pretty handy to know! Thank you for reading xx
